How MeetSchools handles your data
Last updated 1 May 2026 · Effective for all visitors to meetschools.com.
What this notice covers
MeetSchools is a school discovery and lead-generation platform for Indian families. This notice explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP).
Who is the data fiduciary
MeetSchools is the data fiduciary for personal data collected through this site. You can reach our grievance officer at grievance@meetschools.com or via the /grievance page.
What we collect, and why
- Account data — phone number (for OTP sign-in) and an optional name. Used only to authenticate you and tie your activity to a single account.
- Inquiries — when you submit an inquiry to a school we store your name, phone, optional email, the class you're applying for, and any message you write. We share these fields with the school you selected (and only that school).
- Reviews — your published display name, rating, review text, and the class + year your child joined. Reviews are public on the school's profile.
- Consent ledger — every form submission writes a row capturing the purpose, the text you agreed to, an IP hash, and the user-agent string. This is your audit trail and ours.
- Operational logs — limited request logs (URL, status code, IP hash) retained 30 days for fraud prevention.
Cookies and tracking
We use a single first-party cookie for the Auth.js session. We do not run third-party advertising trackers or fingerprinting scripts. Production deployments may include privacy-friendly analytics (page views, no PII) — those will be disclosed before we turn them on.
Who we share your data with
- The school you inquired about — name, phone, email, child class, message. Schools agree to a data-handling policy when they claim a listing.
- MSG91 for SMS, WhatsApp, and OTP delivery.
- Razorpay for school billing — schools' details only, never parent data.
- Anthropic for the AI Counselor — your chat messages plus an India-aware system prompt; no other personal data is sent.
- Amazon Web Services (ap-south-1, Mumbai) for hosting, transactional email (SES), and secrets storage.
How long we keep your data
- Account data — until you delete your account (see below) plus a 30-day grace window.
- Inquiries — kept on the school admin's inbox for 12 months, then archived.
- Reviews — kept indefinitely while published; removed on account deletion.
- Consent ledger — 7 years (DPDP audit requirement).
- Request logs — 30 days.
Your rights
- Right to access — download a JSON file with every personal-data row we hold about you from /account/export.
- Right to correction — edit your phone or name from /account; for other rows, write to grievance@meetschools.com.
- Right to erasure — schedule full deletion at /account/delete. There's a 30-day grace window during which signing back in restores the account; after that we hard-delete.
- Right to withdraw consent — every consent we hold is replayable from /account (the consent history). To withdraw, delete the account.
- Right to grievance redressal — write to grievance@meetschools.com. SLA: 30 days.
Children
MeetSchools is intended for parents and adult guardians, not for children. Reviews + inquiries reference a child's class and year-joined but never their full name, photo, or location. We do not knowingly collect personal data about children directly.
Changes to this notice
We update this page when our processing or processors change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes get an in-product notice the next time you sign in.
